A demanding curriculum, close supervision, and skills geared towards action.
A structured and progressive path
4 months of language preparation in Ghana and Togo, then 6 months of intensive courses at IPR/IFRA. Research continues in one of the member countries, with a scientific stay in Germany, before the defense in Mali.

Programme structure and contents (overview)
- Scientific English and French (4 months, Ghana and Togo) — immersion and methodological foundations.
- Intensive courses (6 months, IPR/IFRA) — climate, agriculture, modeling, GHG.
- Topic validation — committee and thesis milestones.
- Research (member country, or Germany) — experiments, surveys, modeling.
- Scientific stay (Germany) — 3–6 months, reinforcement and co-publication.
- Defense (Mali) — submission, public defense, dissemination.

The ninth module of the WASCAL Mali Doctoral Programme in Agriculture and Climate Change was held from December 15th to 20th, 2025. Delivered by Prof. Chukudi Goddey Michael, the module marked the conclusion of the programme’s teaching activities for the 2025 academic year.

The CC & AGRIC Doctoral Programme delivered the module “Application of Simulation Models to Assess Climate Impacts on Production Systems,” taught from December 1st to 12th, 2025 by Prof. Dilys Sefakor MacCarthy from the University of Ghana. The course strengthened doctoral students’ skills in agricultural systems modelling and climate-impact assessment.

As part of the Climate Change & Agriculture Doctoral Programme, Dr. Vincent Nduka OJEH (Taraba State University, Nigeria) delivered Modules 5 and 6 focusing on GIS/Remote Sensing & Geostatistics, followed by Biostatistics for climate–agriculture applications. The sessions combined theoretical foundations, practical analyses, and interactive discussions.
